Just north of Siena is the beautiful wine region where Chianti wine is produced. There are several small wine towns to visit and you can taste wine at some of the wineries.

Siena is a classic Tuscan walled hill town and also one of the largest. It's best known for its unique fan-shaped piazza, Il Campo, where its famous horse race is run in July and August. Try to visit Siena in the evening or early morning when it's not so crowded with tour buses.
